Stella Polaris Enterprise Event
As part of the fundraising activities at the school we get involved in different actions or get enterprises from entrepreneurs outside of our school. This happened in the case of the Stella Polaris event. The event was a music festival occurring in different places in Denmark in which we were asked to help to build up and set the stages, sound systems or at other times just to help clearing the areas of the event. During the last event where we were part of the cleaning group, we had to attend at the end of the festival and start clearing the area (a well-known park in Copenhagen).
The tricky part in the beginning of our evening was to deal with the people that were still there, waiting for everything to end, most of them being drunk, as it usually happens. These people were provided with beanbags during the event, so they could have a seat and enjoy their time, and most of them were quite unhappy when we requested them to hand over the beanbags. But it was part of the job and we had to be as polite as possible and at the end we manage to get all our beans back without any major issues.
Now, while people were leaving and clearing the space, we had to unmount the tents of the event and to start collecting the garbage. After everyone left, our main task was, as they told us, to: “make the grass green” meaning to collect every piece of garbage that was left behind by the people attending the event, and this is what we´ve done until the break of dawn, when another team was supposed to come and replace us. In the garbage that we had to pick up and throw away we found many things that people just loose in these circumstances. Me personally I found countless lighters, few pairs of sunglasses, more or less usable, I found one guy´s home keys, and this guy was ready to take me out for dinner for saving him.
These are just some of the events that occurred that night, that even if it was long and tiring I found it as a good experience. Some teachings from this experience would be to take extra care of your belongings in this kind of circumstances, or in any kind of circumstances. Also realized that good work is appreciated regardless what it actually consists of.
